 Our Volunteers

Linking Generations is all about volunteers and has an incredible team of staff and volunteers as well as Board of Directors, all of whom donate countless hours to meet our goals of supporting our senior and student volunteers on their journey from strangers to friends.  This structure and support helps to ensure a positive volunteer experience, which is vital to the program’s long-term success.  The fact that each visit is structured and has a specific goal in mind contributes greatly to the seniors and students forming incredible relationships.

Our seniors and students volunteer their time for program visits, training sessions, and year-end program evaluation sessions.  They are the heart and soul of our program and are teaching each of us how to live life to its fullest.

In our last program year (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011) we recruited, trained, and mentored:

  • 121 teens and 62 seniors in our four programs.
  • Each of these individuals volunteer their lunch hour or after school to participate in program visits.
  • The Linking team as well as its Board of Directors donate many volunteer hours.
  • Approximately 4108 volunteer hours were donated by June 2010 for our four programs.

"Volunteers are the Soul of the Earth!"

Adult Volunteer Opportunities

Each Linking Generations Program operates with one part-time Program Coordinator and two or three volunteers.  These volunteers provide the necessary support for the Program Coordinator, for the seniors and the youth as well as to assist the program to operate efficiently.

Linking Generations recruits, mentors, supports, and cherishes its volunteers.  Volunteer positions require approximately two hours, over the lunch period, every other week.  If you enjoy spending time with the elderly and with youth and are a kind-hearted soul, please give the Program Coordinator or the Executive Director a call.
